Paso Road Wine
The Long & Wine-ding Road
Paso Road isn’t just a wine; it’s the story of a life well-lived. It all began when Derek Luff grew up in a small, no-stoplight town in central New Hampshire, where the drinking age was 18, and Boons Farm wine was $1 a bottle. The fancy stuff? White Zin for date night and Almandine in-a-box for mom and dad.
But things took a Hollywood twist when “On Golden Pond” came to town, and 17-year-old Derek landed a gig driving Henry Fonda and co. around Squam Lake. Fueled by Almandine courage, he convinced his parents that following the movie crew to the west coast was the next logical step. And somehow, it worked!
From small-town New Hampshire to the bright lights of Hollywood, Derek went on to create Derek Luff Music, Inc. and open the award-winning Wild Woods Sound & Picture both still thriving this bottle year because how else can you afford to make wine…. After decades in the 24/7 entertainment grind, the pull of going back to a rural lifestyle pushed Derek and the discovery of California’s Central Coast especially Creston and the Paso Robles area came into focus as the west coast version of his east coast childhood town.
Paso Road Wine is the culmination of this incredible journey—bridging the gap between Hollywood glamour and rustic charm, east coast roots and west coast dreams. Every bottle I share with you is a toast to 40 years of adventures, love, passion for life and the road that led me here.
Cheers to life’s unexpected twists, one delicious bottle at a time.
Humbly, Derek Luff & Paso Road Wine…
The Wine
Since 2019, I’ve been crafting wines with a hands-on, old-world approach. It all starts with sourcing only the finest grapes grown in exceptional soil, followed by hand-harvesting, crushing, fermenting, and bottling each batch myself. With guidance from friends and local winemakers, I’ve poured passion and dedication into every step of the process. This hard work has been recognized, with my 2019 Merlot earning 3rd place in 2021 and my 2020 Merlot achieving 2nd place in 2022 at the California Mid-State Fair.
Now, after years of perfecting my craft, I’m thrilled to announce the launch of my small-batch wines, available for purchase and club membership starting Fall 2025.
Each bottle is a true labor of love, embodying the heart and soul
of Paso Robles.
